What skater could resist an invitation to skate on Canada’s Capital’s newest outdoor rink? Certainly not I!! With the Peace Tower and Parliament Buildings as the amazing backdrop, Canada 150 Skating Day on December 10, 2017 was kicked off by the ever so charming, Honourable Melanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Following the opening remarks we were treated to a great show by skaters from the famed Minto Skating Club. Then it was our turn! Celina Stipanic, our Alumni Manager and Jeff Partrick and their families did a bit of skating, a lot chatting, enjoyed the scenery but mostly took advantage of the amazing photo-op!!!

As a  young skater I never would have imagined that years in the future I would be fortunate enough to celebrate Canada 150  Skating Day on the front lawn of Parliament Hill among dignitaries, friends and most importantly Canadian skating enthusiasts of all ages!
