What skater could resist an invitation to skate on Canada’s Capital’s newest outdoor rink? Certainly not I!! With the Peace Tower and Parliament Buildings as the amazing backdrop, Canada 150 Skating Day on December 10, 2017 was kicked off by the ever so charming, Honourable Melanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage.
Did you know it’s Skating Day in Canada on Sunday, December 10th? To honor skating’s amazing history, celebrations are being held in major cities across the country. Skating season is underway and with it we are embarking on another exciting year of skating, learning, competing and building our community.
As alumni, you know what the start of the season means and the enjoyment it brings to Canadians. Our clubs and schools are working away to get Canadians registered for skating and our high-performance athletes are training intensely preparing for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
